This week, we were delighted to welcome Alison Hume MP, the Labour Member of Parliament for Scarborough and Whitby, to our headquarters and manufacturing site in Scarborough.
The visit gave us the opportunity to showcase our role in protecting national critical infrastructure and our continued commitment to skilled employment and engineering innovation on the Yorkshire coast.
Alison was welcomed by our Chief Executive, Gavin Hepburn, who introduced the history and heritage of Dale Power Solutions and our position as one of the region’s key engineering employers. We then took Alison on a tour of our facilities, where she met members of our team and saw first-hand the precision and expertise that underpin our operations.

Supporting Skilled Careers in Scarborough
As one of Scarborough’s major employers, we remain committed to nurturing long-term careers within our community. Many of our colleagues have grown with the business over several decades. A standout example is Ian Ellmore, Technical Manager for UPS Technical Support, who this year celebrated an incredible 50 years with Dale after joining us as an apprentice draughtsman in 1975.
Investing in the Next Generation of Engineers
We were pleased to share our ongoing work to develop future talent through our apprenticeship programme. Our apprentices rotate across mechanical and electrical engineering, testing, assembly, and field service, giving them practical, hands-on experience of the full production cycle. Many choose to stay with us permanently, helping to strengthen both our own future workforce and Scarborough’s wider skills ecosystem.
Driving Sustainability and Innovation
Alison also learned more about our sustainability initiatives. Across our business, we are working to reduce waste, increase energy efficiency, and expand our low-carbon offering, including solar generation, battery energy storage, and our growing plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) service fleet.
We were proud to share that this work was recently recognised at the AMPS Awards for Excellence 2025, where we won the Energy and Sustainability Award for supporting customers on their journey toward cleaner, more resilient power solutions.

Celebrating Regional Strengths
Overall, the visit was a great opportunity to highlight the strength of Scarborough’s engineering sector and the vital contribution manufacturers like us make to the local community, national infrastructure, and the UK’s transition to sustainable energy.
We would like to thank Alison Hume MP for taking the time to visit and meet our team.
